Perhaps the most complete player on this years 19u Knights, Steve Renaud brings it each and every game and has been rewarded accordingly. Renaud is hitting .409 this season and is the centerpiece of a Knights defense that has helped its pitching staff combine for a 1.88 earned run average. Leading the team in runs, hits, triples, and rbi’s, Renaud is expected to come right in and compete for a starting infield job as a freshman.
The decision wasn’t an easy one for the Nepean native who had to turn down a major division 1 scholarship offer at the University of Tennessee-Martin. Renaud cited the unique opportunity to win a national JUCO championship as a major factor in the decision. The Monroe Tribunes are perennial World Series contenders and have finished as high as 3rd, two years back. Renaud will join teammate and friend Evan Hammond. It is likely that the two friends will have to be major factors if the Tribunes continue their impressive streak of World Series appearances. Jordan Kritsch will also return to the Tribunes lineup for his sophomore year making it three Knights for the fall of ’09.
