With a doubleheader sweep of the Ogdensburg Maples on Sunday, the Ottawa Knights 15u team's record improved to 16-0 in AABC league play. The scores were 11-1 and 13-7. Matthew O'Connor's long home run which cleared the left field fence and landed on Highway 37 was the big hit in the first game.
In the second game, the Knights had a 6 - 2 lead and then a spirited Maples team took advantage of some defensive lapses by the Knights to tie the game in the 5th inning. The Knights were undaunted and scored 7 runs in the top of the 6th to regain the lead. Ben Wade and Campbell Chamberlin had clutch hits in the seven run outburst.
Alex Gagne pitched four strong innings in the first game, with Alex Maclean finishing the game with another strong pitching performance. In the second game, Andrew Cockburn and Campbell Chamberlin combined for the win.
Notable performances included Russell Shore, who reached base on 8 of 9 plate appearances with 5 hits and scored 5 times in the double header. Scott Adams also had five hits in the doubleheader.
