Game 1 - 1200hrs
Ottawa Knights 7 Gatineau Attack 1
The Knights were at home on Sunday vs the Attack de Gatineau in Midget AAA action. The knights went into the weekend standing alone in 3rd place in the 12 team league. Ottawa wasted no time getting out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, Mike Byrne lead off with a double, Harding drew a walk then Renaud tripled over the Center fielders head, Hoppner grounded out cashing in the 3rd run of the inning. Ottawa's pitcher Charlie Crabb was cruising through the Gatineau hitters only facing ten batters in the first 3 innings of play. Gatineau scored their lone run in the top of the 4th on a wild pitch that got away from the catcher. Ottawa then sailed through the next 4 innings racking up 4 more runs on RBIs from Renaud, Hammond, Hoppner and McIntyre. Credit Crabb with the complete game victory striking out 7 batters with 2 walks and 1 earned run.
Game 2 - 1500hrs
Ottawa Knights 10 Gatineau Attack 6
Game 2 didn't start out as well for the Knights with some tough hops and missed plays which allowed the Attack to score 5 runs over the 1st three innings. Not to be outdone however, Ottawa loaded up the bases for Wes Hoppner in the bottom of the 3rd inning, Hoppner hit a Grand Slam over the left field fence closing the gap to just one run, later in the inning, Ryan Morrissette scored on a Cory Herback single tying the game at 5 runs a piece. Ottawa would give up one more run in the top of the 4th inning but never looked back scoring 5 more runs in the next 3 innings chasing 3 Gatineau pitchers from the mound. Casey Floyd picked up the win with another solid outing striking out 8 batters over 6 innings, Jordan Kritsch closed out the game in the top of the 7th with 2 strikeouts and a groundout earning his 1st save of the season. The Knights are heading to Buffalo next weekend to start the tournament season. Next action in the AAA Quebec league will be July 12th against Sherbrooke. Ottawa's league record stands at 7 wins 3 losses, good for 2nd place.
