The Ottawa Knights 15u team swept doubleheaders from both the North Country Athletics and Ogdensburg Maples to remain undefeated in AABC play and improve their league record to 14-0. A total of 6 home runs were hit by the Knights this weekend with Scott Adams leading the hit parade with 2 and with solo shots by Campbell Chamberlin, Alex Gagne, Matthew O'Connor and Maximillian Menyhart. Ryan Bochert had a big weekend, scoring 7 runs with 4 hits and 4 walks. Ben Wade had 3 doubles in the first game Saturday and played a solid centre field throughout the weekend.
Knights pitching was also sharp this weekend with strong starting performances turned in by Alex Gagne, Andrew Cockburn, Alex Maclean and Campbell Chamberlin. When the starters tired, the relievers, Maximillian Menyhardt, Robbie Osterer and Christian Gilberg shut down the opposition.
The strong Knights defence was also on display this weekend as evidenced by a double play started by the right fielder Carter Mckinley charging a single to right, relaying it to the cut-off man who threw ot the catcher Matthew O'Connor. The catcher blocked the plate and tagged out the runner to prevent the run from scoring and then threw down to shortstop Russell Shore who tagged out the hitter who was trying to advance on the throw home.
