Game 1 - 1200hrs
Ottawa Knights 4 Marquis de Montréal 3
The Knights travelled to Montreal on Sunday with their 4 and 2 record to take on the Marquis de Montreal, previous engagements were rained out between the two squads. Casey Floyd took to the hill against the Marquis. Montreal opened the scoring with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd, the Knights responded in the top of the next inning when Hoppner drove in Morrissette and McIntyre drove in Hammond. The Marquis replied with another run in the bottom of the inning to take the lead 3-2 after 4. The 5th and 6th innings were scoreless. In the top of the 7th, the Knights needed 1 run to tie the game, Justin Carpenter reached base to start off the inning with a walk then was forced out at 2nd as Harding reached 1st base on a fielders choice, Mike Bryne singled and Morrissette walked, this left the bases loaded with Steve Renaud at the plate with 1 out. Renaud hit a sacfly to left field, cashing in the tying run. Jordan Kritsch relieved Floyd on the mound and shut down Montreal in the bottom of the last inning forcing extra innings. The eighth inning went scoreless for both clubs. The top of the ninth saw Steve Renaud hit a sacfly once again to cash in Mike Byrne for the go ahead run, Kritsch dominated once again in the bottom of the inning with 2 strikeouts and a ground out.
Game 2 - 1500hrs
Ottawa Knights 6 Marquis de Montréal 7
Game 2 saw the Knights jump out to 5-1 lead after 3 innings of play, Charlie Crabb had 3 RBIs and Greg Harding cashed in a run. Tyler Mandzuk was humming along on the mound looking strong with 5 strikeouts in 5 innings. With the score 5-3 Knights in the bottom of the seventh, it looked as though they had the game wrapped up. However, the Marquis had other things in mid hitting 4 consecutive singles scoring 2 runs, chasing Mandzuk off the mound. Kritsch once again came in relief with the game tied and one out, Jordan induced a fly ball for the 2nd out then went on to strike out the next batter for the 3rd out. Extra innings were required once again, the eighth inning went scoreless then in the top of the ninth, Wes Hoppner doubled cashing in Renaud for the go ahead run. With 2 out in the bottom of the ninth, a ground ball was hit right at the 2nd baseman, what appeared to be a routine play turned into a base hit when the ball hit the edge of the infield grass and bounced over Harding's head, the Marquis would not give up, scoring the tying run in the bottom of the ninth then with the bases loaded, Kritsch walked in the winning run.
